Recipients will receive a one-time grant of $500 to support vet care. Applicants must be a senior (65+), terminally ill, or have adopted an animal through My Grandfather’s Cat. The Mackenzie Fund is intended to cover unexpected vet care such as support with diabetes, medications, dental surgeries.
about Mackenzie
Mackenzie is the inspiration behind My Grandfather’s Cat. She was adopted by our founder in December 2019 at the age of 14 after her humans passed away. Mackenzie spent her life living in Chester, Nova Scotia. She enjoyed snuggling, kayaking, sunset walks on the beach, boat rides and bacon.
While she came with the utmost amount of love and grumpy growls, she also came with vet bills. Over the three years she had multiple tooth infections, chronic UTIs and more. The experience behind caring for Mackenzie is what led to the idea to create both this charity and The Mackenzie Fund, which will renew every year on January 7, her birthday.
