Bitty and Barney
Meet Bitty and Barney! As their senior human sudden health concerns make her no longer able to care for them, this sweet mother-son duo are looking for their second forever home.
When a young Canadian diplomat was on assignment in West Africa, she came across these two young cats that needed help. With a heart for animals, she rescued them and cared for them. Her senior mom was willing to adopt them, and so she took every measure needed to bring them from West Africa to Canada, where they have been loved and adored ever since.
Bitty, age 5, and Barney, age 4, love their lives in Canada. These two love to snuggle up with their human in bed, chow down on licky treats, and chase the laser around. They spend their day either scanning for birds and rabbits from the large windows or taking naps in the most creative positions.
Barney is a charming gentleman who will come right up to you and ask for pets. When he gets the zoomies, he likes to jump right to the very top of his cat tree before sprinting in the opposite direction. Leave a cardboard box on the floor and he’ll claim it forever (or until it falls apart).
Bitty is a little more on the shy side and does take a little while to warm up, but once you win her over, you will have a friend for life, especially if you offer her treats or break out her favourite spring toys.
Location: Ottawa, Ontario
Availability: Immediately
Bitty and Barney are looking for an indoor-only home with no other pets or small children. Barney is on a special diet to prevent urinary problems after a blockage earlier this year.
While Barney was able to be neutered before leaving West Africa, Bitty wasn’t healthy enough at the time. MGC ran many tests, and she is now in good health and can be spayed. MGC will be covering the cost of her spay procedure, which will be done once she is settled in her second forever home.
