Pixie

When a senior couple in Tweed, Ontario, heard of two tiny dogs that were going to be abandoned, they stepped up and took them into their home. Pixie, and her brother Ruckus, are now 7 years old and have been thriving with the couple ever since.

“We’ve had them ever since. They are our babies.”

In the Spring, the couple noticed Pixie had a lump on her side. They took her to their vet, had the lump assessed and ran bloodwork. Thankfully, it was just a fat lump but the vet recommend surgery to remove it, which was costly for the senior couple on a fixed income.

“She is a very shy and wonderful girl. She deserves the best in life.”

So, they decided to apply for The Mackenzie Fund to help with the unanticipated cost of the surgery. They worked with our Programs Manager, Scarlett, and received a $500 grant on their vet account. They immediately scheduled the surgery. Just two weeks later, Pixie received her surgery and is recovering well with the two people who love her the most by her side.

“Thank you for this fund for helping us and Pixie. The surgery is going to change her life.”
