The Spotted Hope Veterinary Fund was created by Heather and Klaine, the very proud humans behind four extraordinary golden Bengal cats — Victor, Walter, Seascape and Mogali.

Heather and Klaine recognize how fortunate they have been to have access to veterinary care and to be able to make difficult medical decisions based on the needs and quality of life of their cats rather than having those decisions determined solely by finances. This fund will help Nova Scotians in need help receive vital veterinary care for their beloved pets when they need it the most.

A Little About Why We're Here

The Spotted Hope Veterinary Fund was created by Heather and Klaine, the very proud humans behind four extraordinary golden Bengal cats — Victor, Walter, Seascape and Mogali.

These four remarkable cats have been far more than pets. They have been family, companions, personalities larger than life, fellow adventurers and an enormous part of Heather and Klaine's story together.

Through their lives — and through navigating complex and critical veterinary care alongside them — Heather and Klaine learned just how precious time with an animal you love can be.

Another year matters. Another month matters. Another birthday matters. Another ordinary morning at home together matters. And sometimes, simply having the opportunity to try matters.

Spotted Hope was born from a desire to take those experiences and use them to help someone else.

After losing Victor and Walter, Heather and Klaine began looking for a way to turn some of their grief into something positive while creating a lasting legacy in honour of the cats who had given them so much.

More recently, they had to say goodbye to their beloved Seascape as well.

Losing three of the four cats who inspired Spotted Hope has only strengthened their commitment to what the fund represents.

Mogali now carries the spotted legacy of their remarkable foursome forward, while Victor, Walter and Seascape remain forever at the heart of why Spotted Hope exists.

They also know that not every family has that opportunity.

Sometimes a family facing a veterinary crisis doesn't need someone to judge their circumstances. They simply need someone in their corner.

That is what Heather and Klaine hope Spotted Hope can be.

If assistance from the fund gives another family more time with their beloved animal — another birthday, another adventure, another ordinary morning together, or simply the opportunity to bring them home again — then something beautiful can continue to grow from everything Victor, Walter, Seascape and Mogali have given them.

A Legacy Beyond Our Lifetime

For Heather and Klaine, Spotted Hope isn't intended to end with them.

They have dedicated proceeds from their personal estate to the Spotted Hope Veterinary Fund, helping ensure that the work they begin today can continue long after they are gone.

Their hope is to leave something positive behind in this world.

Someday, long after Heather and Klaine are no longer here, they hope there will still be an animal who receives treatment because Spotted Hope exists. A frightened family may still hear that help is available. There may still be another recovery, another homecoming and another family given precious time together.

That is the legacy Heather and Klaine want to leave.

Who We Help

Today, through My Grandfather's Cat, Spotted Hope begins in Nova Scotia, providing assistance with critical veterinary expenses to qualifying:

Seniors aged 65 and older • Individuals living with a terminal illness • My Grandfather's Cat alumni

But Heather and Klaine dream of something bigger.

With enough support and sustainable funding, their hope is that Spotted Hope will eventually grow beyond Nova Scotia and provide assistance to animals and their families across Canada.

Today, the spots begin here. Tomorrow, we hope they spread across the country.

Victor, Walter, Seascape and Mogali inspired this fund.

Heather and Klaine are simply the humans fortunate enough to have shared their lives — and determined to make everything those four extraordinary cats taught them matter.

We cannot keep the animals we love with us forever. But the love they give us doesn't have to end when they're gone.

Their spots inspired the name.
Their lives inspired the fund.
Their legacy will give others hope.
