Katie

When a senior lady was diagnosed with dementia and was moving into a care home, her husband promised to care for her beloved cat, Katie. Four years later, while sick with cancer, he was hospitalized after a stroke. His daughter knew how much Katie meant to both her parents, so she found a friend to temporarily foster her and contacted My Grandfather’s Cat.

She began working with our volunteer, Chelsea, to find a second forever home for Katie in Burnaby, British Columbia. After interviewing a few applicants, she chose Dan to be Katie’s second forever family.

Now, six months later, Katie is thriving with Dan. He patiently waited the first two months for her to adjust, and now she has become his very best friend.

“She was standoffish for two months, then like a switch was flicked, she came to me and has hardly left my side since! She is a loving kitty who now rules the house. It was a smooth process, and the vetting assured she went to a great home, mine!”

Dan also stays in touch with Katie’s family, providing them with regular updates so they have the comfort of knowing Katie is safe and loved.

“I couldn't be happier and feel so fortunate to be her human! I stay in touch with her previous family and was so thankful with them, knowing her history and her quirks. The whole process exceeded my expectations and I am the recipient of a wonderful companion. A huge thank you to MGC for what you do and how much you helped me find a very affectionate, loving kitty!”
