Luna
When a senior lady was diagnosed with terminal cancer, she made the noble decision to choose medical assistance in dying. She found a home for her beloved cat, Luna, and family flew in from as far as Australia to be with her. Just three days before her MAID was scheduled, the person who was planning to adopt Luna realized she couldn’t take her. That’s when they contacted My Grandfather’s Cat.
Our volunteer, Jenna, began working with the senior’s son to find Luna a home in Toronto, Ontario. While the son spent the last precious moments with his mom, Jenna worked to interview more than 20 applications we received for Luna. With this information in hand, the son made a promise to his mom that Luna would be okay.
After his mom peacefully passed, he began to interview the applicants and he chose Sylvia to be Luna’s second forever family. After only taking a week to settle in, Luna is thriving. Sylvia has kept the son up to date, so he has comfort knowing his mom’s best friend is okay, and he fulfilled his promise to his mom.
“This little love has been with me less than a month, and it feels like she's always been here. She's just so sweet. She sleeps all night and in the morning, waits till I get up and then her little sweet face pokes around the corner, and she talks to me. She is just the most amazing little gift. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”
