piper

When a senior lady was moving into a retirement home, her beloved cat, Piper, was in need of a second forever home. That’s when her daughter and son contacted My Grandfather’s Cat.

They began working with our volunteer, Mackenzie, to find Piper a second forever home in Nova Scotia. While many kind families applied, one application stood out — our founder’s parents.

Since their daughter launched this charity two years ago, they have been unwavering supporters. They have volunteered their time to facilitate adoptions, transport cats and so much more. They are our founders twin pillars, without whom she could not stand, and could not run this charity without.

After losing their beloved family cats, and our founding cat, Mackenzie, in April of this year, they waited patiently for their hearts to heal so they can open their home to another cat.

Piper settled into their home immediately, as if she had always lived there. She is a fan of afternoon cuddles, ham and has a grumpy face that is all too familiar to this family.

“We are so thrilled that we were chosen to be Piper’s second forever family. She quickly settled in and already has the run of the house. We think Mackenzie would approve in her own grumpy way.”
