shadow and crackers

When his coworker unexpectedly passed away, a kind gentleman and his wife kindly stepped in to take his coworker’s beloved bonded cats who he always spoke about named Crackers and Shadow. Worried they’d be separated if placed in a shelter, the couple took the pair into their home with intentions of adopting them.

However, they already had beautiful kitties of their own so once Crackers and Shadow arrived, the kitties’ personalities clashed and it became clear that this was only a solution. That’s when the couple reached out to My Grandfather’s Cat.

Our Adoption Coordinator, Callista, worked with the couple to find a family in the Edmonton region. The very same day the adoption profile was posted, Jacob reached out. Callista quickly scheduled a phone call and right away, it became clear that Jacob and his partner, Tierney, were a perfect fit for Crackers and Shadow.

After talking to Jacob themselves, the couple agreed and quickly, they made the adoption official by bringing Crackers and Shadow to their new home. It was one of My Grandfather’s Cat’s quickest adoptions to date!

Now, one month later, Crackers and Shadow have settled in perfectly. Shadow quickly lived up to her name, while her brother took a little longer, but is now showing his adorable personality.

“Shadow and Crackers joined our home at different speeds. Almost immediately Shadow lived up to her name and followed us around the house. She loves to chirp and purr for more cuddles. She is only satisfied when she can be as close to her humans as possible.

Crackers was more apprehensive and spent a few days hiding anytime people were around. Slowly but surely he got used to our house and started joining his sister to greet anyone coming home. He loves to be part of the action, lounging in the kitchen and greeting everyone with leg rubs. He is also mischievous and loves to get up to secret cat activities whenever he can.

The two have been a joy to have in our home and we can not thank My Grandfather's Cat enough for how easy and quick the adoption process was.”
