Five years ago, I sat on my family’s favourite beach with my cat, Mackenzie. She had belonged to my grandfather, and I adopted when he passed away. My experience adopting Mackenzie inspired a simple idea to create a charity to help seniors find homes for their pets.

My sister took this photo, my mom helped me complete the paperwork and then I launched My Grandfather’s Cat on May 18, 2021, my grandfather’s birthday. As I look back on that first week five years later, I remember it being both thrilling, exhausting and one of the best weeks of my life.

So, to celebrate our five year anniversary weekend, we’re bringing back our favourite elements from that first week — our first merch collection, giveaways, our viral reel, and unbeknownst to us, our very first adoption. Let the celebration begin!! 🤍
