Avatar and Minnie

When their senior mom unexpectedly had a heart attack, Avatar and Minnie were in need of a second forever home. They temporarily moved in with a family friend, and the daughter contacted My Grandfather’s Cat.

They began working with our volunteer, Mackenzie, to find a second forever home for the girls near Osheweken, Ontario. Their profile was posted just a few days before Christmas, but that didn’t stop applications from coming in.

As Mackenzie and the daughter worked through each application, one stood out — Gabrielle. When her grandpa passed away, she had adopted his beloved cat, Bubba. After the loss of Bubba, she knew she wanted to adopt her next best friends through MGC to honour his legacy, and these girls were the perfect fit.

On Christmas eve, Gabrielle and her partner, Chris, picked up the girls, just in time to spend their first Christmas together as a family. The girls, now lovingly called Pepper and Cleo, adjusted to their second forever home with ease, like they like had always lived together.

“I feel very grateful. I have no doubt the girls went to a good home.”
