Buddy

When the time came for a senior lady to move into a care home, her son and daughter-in-law stepped in to help find a home for her beloved 17-year-old cat, Buddy. That’s when the family contacted My Grandfather’s Cat.

The senior lady worried if there would be people willing to adopt Buddy at his age. After speaking to our founder, Angela, they had the comfort to know that there are many wonderful people willing to open their hearts and homes to senior cats. With the comfort of knowing a second forever home for Buddy was out there, they began the adoption progress with our Adoption Coordinator, Vivian.

Vivian spoke with several applicants interested in adopting Buddy and one stood out to Buddy's family, Margaret. A life-long cat owner, Margaret and her husband were looking to adopt a senior cat after losing one of her cats last year, and Buddy sounded like an ideal fit for her family.

Buddy was missing his human and was coping with anti-anxiety medication. When Margaret and her husband met Buddy, it was an instant fit. On the drive home, he made his dislike for the carrier known and he ended up on Margaret's lap enjoying pets to calm him. When they made it to their house, Buddy immediately made himself at home and found a lounging space close to Margaret.

Now, a few weeks later, Buddy has settled in and is thriving along with his two senior cat siblings, Jasmine and Teddy.

"Buddy has settled in very well. All three cats are good with each other. Buddy and Jasmine are together on the couch. He seems happy and has been exploring all over the house. He watches the birds from the couch or the cat tree. He is so very lovable and fits in well with our family. Thanks ever so much for making this possible for all of us."
