jack

Jack was adopted by his human when he was just a tiny kitten . For the next nine years, they were the very best of friends until Jack’s human suddenly and unexpectedly passed away.

After the loss of his dad, Jack moved him with his dad’s daughter, but he didn’t thrive with the other animals in the home. He was also accustomed to going outdoors, but it wasn’t safe for him to do so at the daughter’s home. That’s when she made the difficult decision to contact My Grandfather’s Cat to find Jack a second forever home where he could thrive.

The daughter worked with our Adoption Coordinator, Donna, to find a second forever home for Jack near Belleville, Ontario. After speaking to a couple families, they chose Taryn and her partner, Mark, to be his second forever family.

Jack knew he was home as soon as he moved in with Taryn and Mark. He thrives with his second forever family, and even bonded deeply with his new dad. The couple stays in contact with the daughter, providing her with updates and photos. The daughter was even able to find photos of Jack as a kitten to share with his new humans.

“I truly feel like they were selected by my dad because they are just the most perfect fit for Jack and he would be so thankful. I am thankful for My Grandfather's Cat for Jack getting the best second home ever!"

Only six months after he was adopted, Jack was diagnosed with extreme constipation and now needs regular vet care and medication to stay regular. To ensure he continues to receive the care he needs, we were honoured to choose Jack as the second recipient of The Mackenzie Fund, providing his family with a $500 grant.

“We are all so grateful for the work MGC does. Jack has been the little missing piece in our home. It has been a fantastic and rewarding experience.”
