Charlie and Daisy
When their beloved senior mom passed away, Charlie and Daisy were in need of a second forever home. Her daughters were not able to take them in, and they were heartbroken as Charlie and Daisy were one of the last connections to their mom. They reached out to My Grandfather’s Cat for help.
They began working with our volunteer, Scarlett, to find them a second forever home in Toronto, Ontario. As soon as they were posted on social, another MGC volunteer, Alex, sent their post to her family friend, Lynn, who she knew was looking for a Siamese pair.
Lynn spoke to both Scarlett and the daughters, and although she was located in Ottawa, everyone agreed she was the perfect fit. A little while later, Charlie and Daisy were in the car in a giant dog crate the daughters made into a cozy space as they made the drive to Ottawa to start their second forever life.
When they all arrived at Lynn’s home in Ottawa, they immediately knew they had made the right decision.
“Charlie marched out of the crate and walked around for about a minute before jumping in my lap and starting to purr. aisy tentatively emerged and went exploring in a couple of the rooms – very quietly, but also very calmly. Within about 40 minutes, she had jumped into my lap and started to purr. I must admit I was astonished at how quickly they were interacting and how positive they appeared to be about new people in their lives.”
Now, three months later, Charlie and Daisy continue to thrive in their second forever home with Lynn. They spend their days chatting with her, training her on their preferred routines, snuggling on her lap, asking for treats, and in the case of Charlie, turning on the top in the bathroom so he can have a drink in the morning.
“I had been catless for two years after a lifetime of sharing my space with cats. Having Charlie and Daisy has made me realize the void that the past two years represented. They are very chatty – being Siamese – very loving and very entertaining. I am particularly happy to be able to give a home to two such wonderful animals who no doubt shared all this love and warmth and acceptance with their previous people. It is a real tribute to that family that these two cats have the personality that they do.”
