Jemima

When a professor was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer, he began treatment immediately. After two years, he realized how much he was struggling to care for his beloved cat, Jemima, whom he had adopted as a kitten just two years before he received his diagnosis.

He made the difficult decision to find a home for Jemima while he was well enough and could be involved in the decision-making process. That’s when he contacted My Grandfather’s Cat.

He began working with our volunteer, Tania, to find a second forever home for Jemima, whom he lovingly called Mima, in Vancouver, British Columbia. Mima’s sweet face was irresistible to the community, and applications began to come in. The professor and Tania interviewed each applicant, and he chose Laurell and her family to adopt Mima.

“Though I am heartbroken to let my fur baby go, I am comforted knowing that she will be well taken care of by loving people. I'd like to thank both Tania and Angela for their help in placing Mima in a new home and for their devotion to this cause. Not only does My Grandfather’s Cat do exceptional work, they do it with heart. Much appreciated!”
