Margaret

When her beloved senior mom moved into a care home, sweet 17-year-old Margaret was in need of a second forever home. Her daughter wanted nothing more than to take Margaret in, but Margaret was looking for a second forever home where she could be the only animal, which someone to shower her with love and attention. As the daughter had several cats, this wasn’t an option. So, she contacted My Grandfather’s Cat.

She began working with our volunteer, Stephanie, to find Margaret a second forever home in Toronto, Ontario. As soon as her profile was posted, a lady named Thera saw her and knew they were meant to be together.

After Stephanie spoke to Thera she couldn’t agree more and connected her with the daughter who chose Thera to be Margaret’s second forever family.

As soon as Margaret moved in with Thera, she knew she was home. She adjusted immediately, like she had always been there. It only took 20 minutes for her to be curled by Thera’s head. She spent the first day on Thera’s lap while she worked, and snuggled with her in bed the very first night.

Now, a few weeks later, the two girls are thriving together. Margaret keeps Thera entertained with her grumpy meows, her big purrs and her silly mischievous nature which often involves stealing the bathmat when she’s not home and leaving it by the door as a welcome home gift.

“Coming home to such a sweet, funny, sassy and loving friend has brightened my days so much! Senior cats truly have so much love to give and, in Marge’s case, definitely a lot of zest for life! I’m so happy I was able to give Margaret a happy and loving home (and a bath mat as a new favourite toy!)
