Simba and Cinnamon

Success Story 🤍

When John unexpectedly lost his beloved wife, he decided to adopt two kittens to fill the hole in his heart. For the next 17 years, Simba and Cinnamon were the best companions for their devoted dad.

The three best friends spent every day by each others sides, enjoying their daily routine of competing for space to snuggle on John’s lap and having precisely three treats each every evening.

In March, John, now in his 80s, unexpectedly had a stroke and couldn’t return home. His only worry was what would happen to his two best friends. That’s when his daughter contacted My Grandfather’s Cat in hopes of finding them a second forever home.

The daughter began working with our founder, Angela, to find these 17-year-old boys a second forever home together. As soon as they were posted on social media, a few applications began to role in, but one stood out — a 79 year old gentleman who was looking for companions, just like John was when he lost his wife.

Angela interview the senior gentleman, and it was simply a perfect fit. After meeting him, both John and his daughter couldn’t agree more, and he adopted Simba and Cinnamon.

“It didn’t take long for the cats to settle in. Cinnamon promptly claimed a cozy chair in the living room, while Simba chose the spare bedroom as his starting point, at least until both began exploring their new surroundings. Before long, they were competing for lap space, just as John predicted.”

Now, six months later, Simba and Cinnamon are thriving in their new home. The boys adore their new dad, and he adores them just as much — and they still get their daily treats, just as John had always given them.

“While there is never a replacement for John, Cinnamon and Simba have embraced their new dad’s companionship and are now all happily enjoying their senior years with the run of the house. Thank you to My Grandfather Cat for making this wonderful placement possible.”
