WELCOME TO THE LATEST EDITION OF MY GRANDFATHER’S TALES
We’re so excited to share with you the work we’ve been doing and the milestones we have met over the last three months.
a very special adoption
When a senior lady in British Columbia was diagnosed with ALS, she reached out to MGC, hoping she could find a second forever home for her three beloved pets together.
Through a massive outreach campaign with the help of reels, ads and our friends at The Vancouver Sun, we received over 30 inquiries for these sweet Flowers, with six families willing to adopt all three together.
The senior interviewed each applicant and held meet-and-greets, and chose Michelle and her fiancé, Darren to be their second forever family. The couple plans to visit the flowers over the next couple of months until they officially welcome the trio into their home.
This was one of our most difficult adoptions to date and we couldn't be more proud of the team that made this happen.
introducing our new merch collection
We are so proud to announce that we are partnering with fellow maritime-based and female-run company, Beck & Boyd, to create our new exclusive, limited edition merch collection.
Beck & Boyd was founded by Allie Beckwith in Saint John, New Brunswick. It is named in honour of her grandfather and uncle – two men with a classic, laid-back maritimer style, much like our founder’s grandfather. Since launching nearly the same time as MGC, Beck & Boyd has grown to partner with incredible local brands, including Halifax Tides, the first women’s soccer team in the maritimes.
our summer pet pantry is here
Our Summer Pet Pantry is here! We're getting ready to provide another 25 seniors with $200 worth of pet food and supplies shipped directly to their door.
Since launching this program in February 2024, we have fed more than 280 animals across Canada, ensuring low-income seniors who are struggling with the rising cost of living don't have to give up their beloved pets.
"This pet food from MGC has made such a difference in my life. My cat is my saviour, she's my company, she's my best friend, she's my everything."
our recent adoptions
Meeka
When a lady passed away from terminal cancer, her beloved cat Meeka was in need of a second forever home. Her friend was determined to find a second forever home for Meeka, so she contacted My Grandfather’s Cat.
Winnie
Winnie and her human were soulmates and the love of each other’s lives. When her human suddenly and tragically passed away, Winnie stayed by her side until they were both found days later. As soon as her human’s best friend heard the news, she immediately went and found a temporary spot for Winnie to stay until MGC could find her a home.
“I can’t stop crying with gratefulness that we found the perfect human for my grandmother’s cat. Thank you so much.”
