Sophie

When Sophie’s human moved into a care home, the family was at a loss of what to do. Family friends, Whitney and Jake, took Sophie in but it was only as temporary solution as they quickly realized their cat didn’t like Sophie.

Whitney and Jake spent a few weeks to Sophie and got to know her. She was a sweet, energetic cat who loved outdoor adventures. They were determined to find Sophie a loving home that was able to meet her needs, so they contacted My Grandfather’s Cat.

They began working with our volunteer, Courtney, to find Sophie a second forever home in Toronto, Ontario. After speaking to a few applicants, they chose a lady to adopt Sophie. A few days later, the lady contacted Whitney and Jake that she had a change of heart and realized she wasn’t able to care for Sophie.

Sophie temporarily went back to Whitney and Jake’s home, and everyone was more determined than ever to find her a home to meet her needs. That’s when Kat, a long-time supporter of MGC, saw Sophie’s post and knew her mom, Jo-Anne, was the perfect fit the adopt Sophie.

After the interviews, everyone agreed Jo-Ann was the perfect fit for Sophie. Whitney and Jake drove Sophie to Jo-Ann’s home, and stayed for a few hours for her to settle, but as soon as Sophie walked into Jo-Ann’s home, it was clear — she was home.

Now, two month’s later, Sophie is thriving with Jo-Ann. The two best friends spend their days curled up on the chair together, playing with toys and soaking up all the love. They have even gone on their first outdoor adventure together, and are both looking forward to warm spring days to go on walks together. Sophie has even befriended Tiger, Kat’s cat, so the mother, daughter and two cats can spend the weekends together.

“Sweet Sophie settled right in, and we loved her at once. She loves a warm lap, chatting, supervising everything but especially in the kitchen, and following her new friend Tiger around. She likes her walks, even in the snow, and we are looking forward to the warmer weather to let her explore more on supervised harness walks. Many thanks to My Grandfather’s Cat for all their time and effort to find second homes for these loving and deserving cats and dogs.”
